The campground is conveniently located near the famous Civil War Battlefields of Chancellorsville, Wilderness, and Fredericksburg, several vineyards, and some of the best smallmouth bass fishing in the state.We offer 45 primitive campsites on 51 acres bordering the beautiful Rappahannock River. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and stone-ringed campfire pit. Clean privies and running water are nearby. Hot showers and dressing rooms are centrally located. For those who prefer a little more comfort, there is one cottage with full bath and kitchen. Sorry, we do not have the facilities for RV's or motor homes.The Rappahannock and the Rapidan Rivers have something for everyone, with sections suitable for beginners to advanced. Canoe trips range from a few hours to four days. The rivers are in a natural setting, virtually unchanged by civilization. They flow through Civil War Battlefields, abandoned 18th century gold mines, and ruins of an early 1800s canal system. The scenery is a breathtaking sight you'll never forget. |
