Eat a peach
  • Every year for the last ten years or so, and, I think, again this year, I stay for a few nights in September at Peach Beach RV Park (http://www.peachbeachcamping.com/). Most people bring their RVs, but you can tent camp here as well. Showers are available at no extra charge. You get used to the wind and the sound of the trains late at night. It's all worth it for the fishing. You see, September is prime time on the Columbia for salmon, smallmouth bass and sturgeon. Steelhead are running in the Deschutes and there are dozens of other fisheries within a short drive. After a day of fishing, we tell the day's stories and partake of the fresh peaches we buy from the neighboring orchards. Cobbler anyone? Maybe I'll see you there in September.
