Paulina Lake Camprground is very nice and the location is perfect for exploring the Newberry Caldera area. The lake is beautiful and you almost need to get out on the water to see it all. The Paulina Lake Lodge is maybe 1/2 mile from the campground and they have boats for rent and very reasonable prices - it is worth it to rent one.
The mosquitoes are the only negative, most campers had obviously been there before as they had full bug screen shelters over there picinic tables. Bug spray did seem to do the job though.
You can make reservations at this site through Reserve America - it is probably neccesary for summer weekends, the camground was full on saturday night.
