We went tent camping a couple of years ago at this campground. I visited the recreation area last month again just for picnicking, it still looks very well kept. The tent area is really nice. Behind the campground is a lava field. When it rains, the spiders come out. You might see a tarantula or vinegaroon.

Once in a while you find a campground that is in the "deep, dark forest". Beckler River Campground is one of these. It sits right on the river and has long tendrils of moss hanging from giant Douglas Fir Trees. Very private campsites with nicely paved access and far enough from Hwy 2 to not hear the road noise.
I would certainly stay here again and might look at fishing the river.....looks good!

Rate it at a "0" out of ten If I could rate it lower I would. We arrived fri 8/10 late afternoon as my wife, mother in law and myself walked in we went up to the counter and the owner was helping a oriental family who were obvious tourists. There was a language barrier and the owner seemed put off by it. The lady and her family were there to rent a small boat for just a couple hours he told her the fee was $15 she had no problem and handed him a amex card he charged her card and handed her the receipt to sign she made a comment on being charged $16 not $15 she thought the boat costs he said I told you I charge a dollar to use credit card she was obviously confused but rather than try to calmly explain he rudely grabbed $16 cash from the drawer and handed it to her as he was telling her how patient he had been and how he was doing her a favor all the while one of his clerks is physically removing the life jacket off of one of the children then told them to leave. Now comes my turn at the counter the owners wife is helping us. I told her we had reservations for the larger cabin for 2 nights and the larger pontoon boat so she was starting to write the tickets up and was just being short I said bad day ? she said ya. when it came time to pay ($450) I was going over the ticket and noticed that the boat was not on it for Sun. I said what about the 1/2 day rental on Sun. she said we already rented it and we don't rent half day. I'm like your website says otherwise as did the person we spoke to two weeks ago when we made reservations. She argued with me saying they would not tell us that. I said to them you know were here getting ready to drop around 500 bucks and you wont rent us the boat for a half day on sun.? She looks at her husband Now I'm a bit perplexed and I say no wonder you get such bad reviews online. The owner looks at me and says.... what ? so I say it again and he looks at his wife and says have you ran there card yet ? Telling her he doesn't care if we rent or not. At this point we have our kids anxiously waiting for a camping trip along with boat fishing etc. and just wanted to pay and move on. So reluctantly I did ($322) went outside and felt like crap literally I hate confrontations like that and still felt bad about the oriental lady. Parked by the cabin and stated putting our stuff inside. I am using the word cabin very loosely !! you could see through the walls !! Thank god we brought our own sleeping bags. Boat was ok at best. Sat evening wife wanted a shower after we returned the boat it was 7:15 pm the owner lady says showers close @ 7:30 saying she kept them open extra long tonight (sun hasn't even gone down yet) That evening sitting by the fire there was a dog barking in a forest service camp site across the small cove and the owner guy yells across the way shut your dam dog up !! I didn't really know if I wanted to spend this much time writing a review but I really hope someone takes note and avoids the resort period !! The lake is great and if you must stay in a cabin or need supplies there is other places nearby. WE will not EVER go back to the resort !! Aside from the negative the lake was beautiful sun was hot the fishing well not so much

I called Bandon by the Sea in March 2012 to make reservations for 11 days in September 2012 .Rose gave me a confirmation number.
I called in July to see witch site I was assigned and was told I was not on the books.I provided my confirmation number and she said they have an rv group in at that time and they had no openings.I think it is a poor way to do busniness. I thought that having a confirmation number meant that it was a done deal. Rose must have another way of thinking. If they had a minus rating for customer service , that's what they would get.
Stayed here in Summer 2012. Heavily shaded with a great canopy of trees. Bradley Fork River runs right through the campground. Beautiful clear mountain stream. Close to services in the nearby town of Cherokee. Loop F seems to have the best waterfront campsites and probably less traffic. Onsite horseback riding stables offered a simple diversion, as well as nearby rafting on a variety of rivers. My only negative comment: no showers, which is true for all of the NPS campgrounds in the GSMNP. Reservations are accepted through the regular NPS reservation system.

Donner Memorial SP has three loops. The sites in the third loop or much more spread out and private. Unfortunately there are no lake views from the campground. The campground itself is nice enough and the lake and surrounding mountains are beautiful. My reason for rating the campground only as ok is it is near a populated area, a major interstate freeway, and railroad tracks, so it is noisy and you don't get the feeling you are getting away from it all.

Robbs Mountain Hut was the first USFS public rental in California. It is a gem! Group size limit is 6 but that would be crowded. Four would be okay but two is just right. There are three wide bunks to lay your sleeping bags on. The 360° view is incredible. In clear weather we have seen Mt. This is a large group campground just off the beaten path in the Eldorado National Forest. It is expensive at $100 a night but will accommodate up to 100 people. It has recently been renovated with new gravel, bear boxes, and three new CXT outhouses. The only downside is the lack of a water system so be sure and bring your own. Our family camps often and this is our absolute favorite. The campsites are a little on the rustic side, but just what we are looking for. We were there this past weekend and were excited to see that Lacey and Anna are back for another season. They have been there for the past couple years. They are always so friendly and helpful. Last year Lacey helped us fix an oil leak in our truck and even went to town to get us a part. Their boys helped us pack wood to our campsite and their daughter stopped by and played a game of Scrabble. Garfield Bay is about 20 minutes from town and the bigger grocery stores, but why leave? Odie's is a very nice store in the bay that has some of everything! The lake is beautiful and clean. We can't wait to come back when it warms up for some swimming!

Beaver Pond Campground- Harriman State/Palisades Park system. NY

People who choose to stay at Beaver Pond campground will envy the men working in the underground methane factory of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. I urge or dare you (I'm not sure which word to use) to drive through prior to selecting it as your "wilderness" destination.

The 'campsites' are little more than raised slatted platforms, the sites are mostly on top of each other, its loud, crowded, and the bathroom facilities are dirty. At night it sounds like the Lord Humungus is calling for the surrender of the gasoline. Here's the bottom line from someone who grew up in the area: There is no suitable campground within the palisades/bearmountain/harriman park system.

My advice? Drive to the park for day use activites. Yes my friends I would offer Beaver Pond as my choice for worst public campground in America. I kid you not.

Bob Scott Campground is on the pass above Austin Nevada. It's a pretty standard Forest Service CG but is usually clean and quiet due to its remote location. I had unusually good cell coverage here (3g verizon) as there must be a tower on the pass. The coverage here is much better than even in Austin. Not quick. I never saw a ranger and not even sure if anyone even checked our reservations. Lots of places frown on picking up wood for fires. This place encourages it! Fallen trees for cutting up. People actually sawed off pieces and carried them back to their campsites! The lake was nice. Saw lots of fishing poles, no fish.

Every year for the last ten years or so, and, I think, again this year, I stay for a few nights in September at Peach Beach RV Park (http://www.peachbeachcamping.com/). Most people bring their RVs, but you can tent camp here as well. Showers are available at no extra charge. You get used to the wind and the sound of the trains late at night. It's all worth it for the fishing. You see, September is prime time on the Columbia for salmon, smallmouth bass and sturgeon. Steelhead are running in the Deschutes and there are dozens of other fisheries within a short drive. After a day of fishing, we tell the day's stories and partake of the fresh peaches we buy from the neighboring orchards. Cobbler anyone? Maybe I'll see you there in September.

We were hunting ground squirrels on ranches near Crane, Oregon and stayed at Crystal Crane Hot Springs (http://cranehotsprings.com/) last year. This was my fourth time there. I try to go at least once a year. Justin and Nikki Aamodt (Diamond-A Guides) run a hunting operation with their HQ at Crystal Crane Hot Springs, but half of the people that stay at CCHS are there for the birding, the peace and quiet or just to soak in the lake. There are RV hookups, cabins and a tepee available. They tell me there is a hot tub in the tepee.
