I have camped almost all over the country and this is by far the strangest and also one of the dirtiest campgrounds I have ever stayed at.The bathrooms were filthy and the showers hot water only lasts about 3 minutes and there is no privacy because the campsites are so close together. There apparently isn't a designated quiet time so people people are allowed to hoot and holler and make all the noise they want all through the night. There were kids on golf carts racing us as we drove in the main entrance at 10 pm , and then there was some idiot with a diesel truck driving back and forth and through peoples campsites from about 11 pm to 1 a.m. Not only did the owners of the campground not do anything about the disturbances but they also joined in the fun by driving a firetruck around with it's lights flashing and loudspeaker blaring!! If you like to stay up and party all night this is the place for you. We will never stay there again and would not recomend this place to anyone. If it wasn't for the excellent trout fishing in the area this campground would get a rating of ZERO !!

My husband family lives near the campground. My father in law and husband was up their this last May and was given a flier about the campground with pricing. So for his family reunion we decided to take our camper and spend the july 4th weekend. will according to the paper there was free horseback riding for campers and it was only 20.00 a night to camp 25.00 for holiday. But what the paper didn't say was no horses and they charge you by the size of your camper we had to pay 32.00 a night. The restrooms was a joke only one working commode. we couldn't use are ac if we were going to use the microwave because it blew the breakers there. So when we had to give ours kide there breathing treatments we had to make sure everything was turned off. Their was no playground for the kids. The people that take care of place needs to teach there kids to stay out of your camper and belongings. We were not their 10 min. and they were climbing in your camper while you were trying to set up. They constantly asked for food and drinks. They would take our kids toys, we would have to go and get them back. Finally after adressing it with the kids and parents it took us about four more times before they actually did anything about them. This was the first campground we had ever stayed at that we made for sure everything was put in the camper or loaded back in our tuck. This is a campground we will not stay at again unless they do alot of work to it.

On a previous visit to the area we drove through Beech Bend TVA Campground. We were impressed with the sites in close proximity to the river. The main road was paved & the park appeared clean. We chose to camp here when we returned. We got NO SLEEP the entire time. Trucks & cars drove thru constantly (night & day). At night, the auto lights illuminated the whole tent. Music was played INCREDIBLY LOUD almost all night. To have "rolling on the river" blaring at 3 a.m. is not as fun as it might sound!! I can say that the trash was picked up & the restrooms somewhat clean. If you are looking for a comfortable place to relax & get away from stress, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STOPPING HERE!! What a shame! This campground has real potential!

Because of the location (and the time of year we went - July), I expected this to be swampy at worst, and muggy at best. Weather was hot, certainly, but campground was very well shaded. Two bathhouses - one modern, one older. Modern was pretty, but shower pressure lacking and couldn't control nozzle. Older bathhouse had hot water issues, but pressure was nice, and movable nozzle was good, too. Sites are level, we camped in a tent, but saw several large motor homes and trailers. Most of park is shaded, with some sunlight hitting each spot at various times of day. Wildlife is abundant - especially racoons & deer flies, but once they were controlled, no other major issues. Will most likely visit here again, even though it's 6 hours from our house.

We love this park. We camp as a family frequently on hot summer weekends. The springs are ICE COLD, but so welcome when the temps reach the high 90's. There is typically no cell reception, and there is nothing convenient to the park - nearest store is Dollar General 10 miles away, but that's the appeal for us. Bathrooms are older, but kept clean and working. Park has some shaded, some not shaded spots. Mostly flat for tent campers.

This campground is ok if it is the last one in the area to get reservations and you do not want to use their facilities. The price is ok but the weeds are higher than the picnic tables, the laundry room is dirty, the restrooms are also. When the electricity went out on our side of the parking lot we had to move in the rain at 10:30 at night.

Heartland Resort is not what it was in the past. Just don't voice a complaint to the manager if something goes wrong because you will be told to pack up and leave the campground now. So it is alright for his empolyees to destory your personal property at your campsite if they won't get in trouble and you don't mind be treated that way this place is for you. I won't be going back and would not tell my worst enemy to go here. The public restroom had not been clean in the 5 days that I was there. The fishing lakes have not been stocked in several years( that news came form a long time employee that works there). They don't desirve a full star rating.

I've stayed at this park in the past. but this time I had to cancel my reservation. I canceled by calling them 3 day before my reservation.(they have a 24 hour rule). When I got my bank card bill, I found out they charge me for one night. When I contacted them about it, they said they had no record of me calling them. I sent them a copy of my cell phone bill, which showed when I called them, but still no refund.

This is a nice campground. My Family and I stayed there the week before the fourth of july. Grounds are well kept and the park is well layed out. Not much scheduled for the kids to do so bring your own entertainment. Only thing I don't like is that they will rent sites to people who arn't even there. No campers, no tents, just rent tags on the site post. These sight are not reservable. Seems unfair to the people who really want to camp. Because of this I give it three stars

We have camped here for two summers in a row and look forward to returning. The owners are friendly, accommodating and very eager to make each camping experience special and memorable. Every site is extra-pretty with grass and flowers. There is also a nice pet area. The entire campground is beautiful and lovingly well-kept with lots of green grass, trees, and flowers.

Overall the camping experience at Granville was okay. The hiking is enjoyable, fun and easy-to-moderate in difficulty. It's a very pretty park almost rainforest in nature. The sites are a little close together so there is not very much privacy and the number of sites are quite limited. The bathrooms were very nice, clean. They did have a dish washing area outside the bathrooms with a full sink which I thought was a nice touch and quite handy .

The camping biggest negative is the Park Manager! I have to say that the manager of the campgrounds was really unpleasant and kind of a jerk!! We did notice that he drove up and down the park road staring in seemingly inspecting the people at each site. Honestly the group I was with felt somewhat uncomfortable since each day the same camp manager tried make excuses to come onto our site. Almost as if he was hunting for park any infraction he could find. He asked multiple times if we had any trash he'd like us to take. Sure that seemed like a nice gesture but twice in one day? really? He also took offense to the way we parked and asked us to repark our vehicle. As he did so he came onto the site and did a "walk around", again as if inspecting us.

Now I am a 38 year old mature professional adult. The average age of the persons in our group (of four) was 35. So it's not like we were teenagers looking to party it up at a camp ground or anything. I camp frequently in the summer and even once or twice in the winter months. So I am a moderately serious camper. I do not suggest that I am a perfect camper or anything like that. Yet, I am respectful of other campers and overall want everyone to have an enjoyable time. So it is difficult for me to justify his frequent, random "inspections".

We nicknamed the Park Manager as the "Granville Grinch", as with his green park shirt and his round waist he did somewhat resemble the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Besides his general appearance, it was more his unpleasant demeaner he shared with "The Grinch". Sure he was trying so hard to be nice, yet I got the sense all he wanted to do was find a reason to spoil our camping weekend.

With all his patroling and inspecting, I have to say I NEVER felt so incredibly "watched over" and "inspected" at a campground. Being an avid camper and tax paying massachusetts resident, I appreciate the park system and have stayed at many state campgrounds. This man's patroling, controling nature really left me with an odd feeling almost as if we were being harrassed.

It's truly a shame because Granville State Forest is beautiful, a jewel in south central massachusetts. Yet this trip there wasn't any Christmas in July celebrations, cause the Grinch called Santa and canceled.

Thanks,

We've always wanted to see Bayfield, WI. So, a group of friends (with our families) camp together all over Minnesota, have been to South Dakota together & recently to Wisconsin. We've been doing this for about 4-5 years. I don't think we've ever been to such an unwelcoming place. This Campground has sarcastic signs posted everywhere in the campground, and if you disobey them, you will be punished. The owner drives around in a 4-wheeler to make sure that you aren't leaving your rugs on his grassy/weedy campsites, or that your dog isn't barking (at any time of the day). If you leave your little rug/mat outside your door, be sure to pick it up before you go anywhere. Otherwise he will. The sites are just ok, but they do have clean flush toilets, and you do have to pay for showers. Playground closes at 8:30PM (SHARP) and no playing games around the campfire after 10PM. I just thought this was a little bit too strict to make it much fun. I would recommend camping anywhere else nearby. I'm sure there are plenty of other places that would welcome you & let you stay up past 10PM.

This place touts itself as being luxurious and family-friendly, and even charges as such ($250 for 6 people 2 nights), but in no way is it either. We got in late Friday night to drunks running around with beers in their hand, when we complained they told us to call security, on everyone? We were woken up by people screaming around 6am. By 9am the pool was literally over flowing. Their mini golf range is disintegrating. The bathrooms and port-a-potties are very dirty. To top if off, the staff is extremely rude. We were waiting in line in the office and got to hear Peg insult customers before our turn. The man at front gate laughed when he told us the river was closed, despite it being open 18 minutes up river at another campsite.

Very nice roomy campsites. Each site has a bar-b-que grill, fire pit ring, and picnic table. We especially like the trees. My husband and I are not big on laying out in the sun, so the sun comes through without having to bake in it all day - cooling on a hot summer day. We camp here frequently and though we have a fifth wheel with all the amenities - the park bathrooms and showers are very clean. They have a large enclosed pavillion for group events. I recommend this park often to anyone looking to stay in the Harrison area.

I will not camp here again. My friends and I (totaling 13 campsites) just spent the weekend of 7/30/10 at Five Branches. While the scenery is beautiful here, I was completely dissatisfied with the staff. Particulary, the grouchy old men driving around on golf carts, barking rules to everyone. I have camped all over our great nation. I have never been treated so rudely. One would think the staff there would be apreciative of thier customers. While I can only speak for myself, I am positive that others feel the same as me, for they were harrassed as well. This is the best campground we have stayed at. The sites are large and level with cement pads and shepherd's hook, grills and fire rings. They have several pull throughs. The bath houses are VERY clean and well kept. We enjoyed watching the tug boats and barges traveling up and down the river. All staff were very helpful and friendly. Great food with reasonable prices close by at "Down Yonder" The only problem was the cell phone service. You can get fair service in the open areas at the river edge and in section 1 next to the bath house.

We are very eager to return soon.

This campground has the potential to be great, but bad management and a poor vision for the campground is keeping it from being anything special. The owner spends the majority of time out of town and leaves the day-to-day operation to a manager, who rarely gets off his butt and does any work.

I was there for four days, and not once did the bathrooms ever get cleaned. There was one set of bathrooms that were absolutely disgusting. They had showers, but there is no telling if you would have actually come out cleaner if you used them.

I arrived in the mid afternoon and nobody was at the registration building to check me in. I finally ran down a young kid they have hired to help out, and he found out where I was supposed to be camping. This was the theme of the week.

When I finally found my spot, I was crammed into a small spot, surrounded by year-round campers. It had more of a feeling of downtown Manhattan than the Sierra Mountains.

The surrounding areas and towns were great, but the campground really was not as advertised on the web. The pool was mercy and dirty. The facilities were dirty. If you decided to take a walk, you were likely to find a garbage dump at each end of the campground.

In closing, the campground has a lot of potential, but the owner is more concerned about year-round campers than weekly and daily campers. He probably rakes in about $25,000 a month on the 30-or-so, year-round campers and appears to have no desire to clean things up for the rest. If he would spread things out and give the campers more space, he would have a much more desirable campground, but I don't think this is his goal. He is maximizing his profits and providing a space for older folks that have no where else to park their RV. The area has no other campgrounds with full hookups and he has the corner on the market.
This park is within walking distance of the quaint little town of Coggon Iowa. We checked in on a Wednesday and were the only campers here until Friday. The park grounds are tiered and the lower part of the park had been flooded so only six sports were usable. The park is very shady, pretty level spots, has great electrical voltage, and has water hookups. The only downside of the place is that it doesn't have sewer hookups. There is a dump station at the entrance to the park. We stayed here in a 37 foot motorhome. We were here the 1st two weeks in August 2010. There are no reservations and is first come first served. There is a honor box for payment, but the park ranger does come around daily. We will stay here again.

Nothing nice to say about this place, too much to mention in one review. Doesn't look like the website at all. Site we requested on the lake didn't happen. Owner claimed she could put you wherever she wanted to. Overall looks dirty and neglected. Bathrooms are old and filthy. Pool and mini golf is run down. The slip and slide is a giant canvas, maybe from an old billboard sign that they put dishwashing detergent on for everyone to slide down. Everyone jumps in the pool to wash off when they are done with it. Pool actually looks like it's starting to cave in. Playground is overrun with weeds and garbage. Activities offered are overpriced (crafts, paint ball, paddle boats)Grass not cut, new site area was a swamp! If there are rules, it's not the campers not following them, it's the owners, owner's family and staff that don't abide by them. Few examples, smoking in the buildings, driving fast through the campground. Owner was just down right rude. Chose to leave early and eat the cost of the 3 night stay we paid for.

Wonderful Campground. The Staff is very nice and Professional. They have a Security team that is very responsive to any needs yet they camp there too and make everything a non-issue if all is well.
Campground store has everything you may have forgotten, and has a full service Deli with fantastic Pizza, all home-made, made fresh daily and not frozen. Breakfast , Lunch and dinner can be had for very reasonable pricing and all three are very yummy!!!!

We try and camp there at least 5 or 6 times per year and have enjoyed every weekend we have stayed there.

The campground has well spaced out sites, so even if you can hear your neighbors, you don't have to see them from your site. The pool is nice, but no shade is provided in the way of umbrellas. Bring sunscreen. There are adequate supplies available in the small store and there is a poolside cafe for when you don't want to cook. The nearest stores of any size are about 30 miles away. There is no cell phone service (this may be good or bad) and there is a very small wifi hotspot. Somehow they have managed to confine the wifi signal to a corner of the pool area. It is used heavily. My biggest beef is that they charge for a shower. While it is only a quarter for about five minutes, the idea of charging infuriates me. I would much prefer the add a buck/night to my camp site fee. The staff are friendly, but there are a plethora of rules posted all over the campground. Finally, don't count on catching any fish in the stocked pond. The five days that I was there, I saw a lot of fishing going on, but not one fish being caught. They feed the fish everyday at 6:30 PM, so all the people fishing get to see the fish eat the food but not the bait. I'd probably look for a different campground if I returned to the area. There are many other options around.
