About: Smokey Bear Campground is composed of 12 campsites on beautiful Alturas Lake situated in a mixed conifer setting. A group picnic area is located on the east side of the campground and canoeing and fishing is available on nearby Perkins Lake. Trails at the end of Forest Road #205 lead into the Sawtooth Wilderness. An ampitheater is available for group events or for interpretive programs. Campground amenities include a boat ramp and trailer parking area. This is a superb place to spend sunny summer days fishing for trout, waterskiing, sailing, motorboating, swimming, and picnicking by the lake.
