Poison Butte Campground is one of 5 BLM campgrounds located right on the famous trout fishing Crooked River. Located about 30 miles east of Bend, Oregon and 10 miles south of Prineville, Oregon this campground is a quite spot to stay and enjoy the Crooked River. It is rustic with vault toilets and fire rings. Even thought the access road is dirt and gravel, low clearance vehicles should have no trouble.
Popular activities include fishing for native rainbows, floating the river on hot days, hiking, and enjoying the beauty of this desert canyon. Use can be high during the summer months and if this campground is full, there are several others to choose from along the river leading up to Prineville Reservoir.

Poison Butte Campground, Crooked River
This is one of the smallest campgrounds of the 5 or 6 that can be found in the 10 mile stretch of the Crooked River below Bowman Dam on the Prineville Reservoir, but one of the best for fishing access. This river fishes great for native redband rainbow trout by fly or lure. Poison Butte Campground is a great place to stay if you are looking for a desert canyon camping experience.
