No more than a few hundred yards wide in most places, Perdido Key stretches along the Gulf of Mexico for approximately sixteen miles. Almost sixty-percent of its land mass is designated as a federal or state park, making it one of the most significant wilderness areas on the Panhandle.
Perdido Key’s literal translation means ‘lost key’. It gained this moniker from the Spanish explorers who arrived here for the first time in 1693. Bridges link Perdido Key to the Florida mainland and neighboring Alabama. Those who make the short drive across the water will find that this’ lost’ island has a unique and laid back lifestyle worth discovering. With an average annual temperature of 75 degrees and and approximately 343 days of sunshine every year, the Key is an oasis for year-round outdoor activities.
We hope that your time with us is fun and relaxing and that you’ll stay long enough to enjoy the beauty of our natural surroundings.
