Located 16 miles north of Old Faithful, at the confluence of the Gibbon, Madison and Firehole rivers. Campsites have one picnic table and one fire grate. Firewood is available for sale. Campsites are limited to 6 people or one family (parents and dependent children). Stays are limited to 14 nights between June 15th and Labor Day. There is a limit of 2 vehicles per site. Sites are either pull through or back in, and may not be level. Pay showers, restaurants, and stores are located at Old Faithful, 16 miles south. Laundry facilities are located outside the park, at West Yellowstone Montana, 14 miles west. No utility hookups. Sanitary RV dump station available.

Wildlife in camp
The Madison is not only renowned for its fishing, but for its elk viewing. We were able to sit back and enjoy a beverage while taking up-close and personal photos of some huge bull elk and their cows not 50 yards away. I only rate this campground 4/5 stars because it is so busy the whole season and hard to get a spot. It is also right at the road junction going to West Yellowstone and can a fair amount of road noise.
