Lehman Hot Springs is said to have been discoved by Dr. John Teel and James Lehman while on a hunting trip in the fall of 1871.
James Lehman acquired ownership of the property in the 1890s. He built the first cabin in the area and established a resort. Lehman operated the facility, which still bears his name, until his death in 1913.
