About: Hernando Point Recreation Area is located on the east side of Arkabutla Lake, five miles south of Hernando, and three miles north of Coldwater, MS. The lake sits on the Coldwater River and is renowned as one of the finest Crappie fishing lakes in the Southeast.

The lake also offers some of the best sailing east of the Mississippi River. Boating, swimming, hiking, and hunting are popular activities.The campground is situated along the waterfront, among rolling hills forested with a shady mixture of oak, hickory, beech, sweet gum, and birch trees. Families come to Arkabutla Lake to enjoy the great outdoors by fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, biking, and simply spending a relaxing day taking in all that nature has to offer.
