This park is situated on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Perhaps best known for its historic lighthouse, this park offers numerous recreational opportunities. Visitors can cart-in their supplies to pristine campsites along Lake Superior. Scenic trails along the lake link up to the spectacular Superior Hiking Trail. Anglers cast their lines for lake trout, salmon, and brown trout. The rocky beach is perfect for skipping stones into Lake Superior.

Campgrounds: Camping is available year-round. Split Rock has 20 cart-in campsites, including 2 accessible sites. We also have 4 lakeshore backpack campsites and 1 remote Lake Superior Water Trail kayak site. Two of the backpack sites are also designated as kayak sites – call the park office for more information on these sites.

Electric Sites: None available.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed from November 1 – May 1, but are really a must during the regular camping season when we are extremely busy. Reservations are also recommended during the fall color weekends. For first-come non-reservable sites, stop at the office as early in the day as possible for the best selection (however – the previous party in your site may stay until 4 p.m. on their checkout day).
