First-come, first-served campgrounds include: Belle, Cottonwood, Hidden Valley, Jumbo Rocks, Ryan, and White Tank. Black Rock and Indian Cove campgrounds are first-come, first-served only during the summer—June through September.

A good campground at a remote corner of the park
Cottonwood campground is at the extreme SW corner of the park so it's not close to many of the parks main attractions. However it is directly adjacent to the Lost Palms Oasis trail which is Joshua Tree's best hike.
